Forever Begins With You

The wedding hall was glowing with golden lights.

Flowers covered every corner, soft music filled the air, and hundreds of people had gathered to celebrate a love story that had taken years to find its way home.

But among all those people, Ayan could see only one person.

Her.

Maira stood at the entrance wearing a beautiful red bridal dress, her veil gently falling over her shoulders. Her hands were decorated with intricate henna, and her eyes were shining with nervous happiness.

For a moment, Ayan forgot how to breathe.

He whispered to himself,

“She’s finally here.”

They hadn’t met through family.

They hadn’t met through a perfect plan.

They had met on an ordinary rainy evening.

Ayan had been standing outside a small café when he saw Maira struggling with a broken umbrella.

He laughed.

She looked at him angrily.

“Is something funny?”

“Your umbrella.”

She looked at it.

“What’s wrong with it?”

“It’s broken.”

“I know.”

“Then why are you still holding it?”

“Because I don’t have another one.”

He smiled and offered his.

“Take mine.”

She looked at him suspiciously.

“And what will you use?”

“I’ll run.”

She laughed for the first time.

That laugh stayed in his heart.

Over the following months, they became friends.

Then best friends.

Then something much more.

They shared coffee, dreams, secrets, and countless late-night conversations.

One night, sitting beneath the stars, Maira asked,

“Why do you always look at me like that?”

Ayan smiled.

“Like what?”

“Like I’m the only person in the world.”

He looked directly into her eyes.

“Maybe you are.”

She looked away, trying to hide her smile.

That was the night they both understood.

They were in love.

But love was tested when Maira had to leave the country for her studies.

At the airport, she held Ayan’s hand tightly.

“Will you wait for me?”

He smiled.

“How long?”

She laughed through her tears.

“I don’t know.”

“Then I’ll wait until you know.”

She hugged him.

“I love you.”

He whispered,

“I love you more.”

Then she left.

Distance changed many things.

There were missed calls.

Long silences.

Arguments.

Misunderstandings.

There were nights when both wondered if their love could survive.

But neither of them stopped caring.

Three years later, Maira returned.

And the first person she wanted to see was Ayan.

She found him at the same old café.

He looked at her.

She smiled.

“Still waiting?”

He stood up.

“Did you think I would stop?”

She walked toward him with tears in her eyes.

“No.”

He gently held her hand.

“Then don’t ever leave again.”

She shook her head.

“Never.”

And now, years later, she was standing in front of him as his bride.

The wedding ceremony began.

When Ayan finally held Maira’s hand, she looked at him with tears in her eyes.

“Are you happy?” she whispered.

He smiled.

“I’ve never been happier.”

She squeezed his hand.

“Do you remember the first time we met?”

“The broken umbrella?”

She laughed.

“Yes.”

He leaned closer.

“I think that umbrella was the best thing that ever happened to me.”

She smiled.

“Why?”

“Because it brought me to you.”

Later that night, after the wedding, they stood together beneath a sky filled with stars.

The noise of the celebration had faded.

For the first time that day, they were alone.

Maira rested her head on his shoulder.

“Do you think we’ll still love each other when we’re old?”

Ayan kissed her forehead.

“I don’t want to just love you when we’re old.”

He took her hand.

“I want to grow old with you.”

She smiled.

“Promise?”

He looked into her eyes.

“Forever.”

And that was how their real love story began.

Not with the wedding.

Not with the first kiss.

Not even with the first time they said I love you.

It began with a broken umbrella, a rainy evening, and two strangers who had no idea that one small meeting would change the rest of their lives.

Because sometimes, the person you’re meant to spend forever with enters your life when you’re simply trying to stay dry in the rain.
